Arthur Waite and Pam Smith weren't the only former Golden Dawn members to enter the publishing business. Aleister Crowley, the notorious bad boy of the occult a hundred years ago, was persuaded by artist Lady Frieda Harris to design a tarot deck for her to illustrate; they worked closely together during World War II in England on what would become the Thoth tarot. It wasn't published until 1969, just after the Tarot had grown in popularity, and well after the deaths of Crowley and Lady Harris. This deck tends to appeal much more to those interested in the occult and is packed with symbolism.
